faux or fur??

it can be a slippery slope when discussing these types of topics, but i have to get your opinions on hides.

thoughts on these in your home? i happen to have a beautiful white hide, that was a gift from someone special. its original purpose was for back patch/label for denim jeans for an iconic/american/luxury brand....you know..the classic one with rich history in americana....

well, it ended up in our home...something i have loved seeing, but not a must have. now i can't imagine the room without it.

love to hear your comments....am i doomed?

photo source here, recommended on one of my fav blogs, remodelista.

i know...it has been a long, dry spell. busy with job changes, constant flow of visitors all summer (a joy indeed) and life. will try harder...

Tough call ... Years ago, one of our more difficult interior design jobs was using a client's (real) horse hide to cover two amazing chairs. She moved here from the SW and brought it into the shop with her. Our upholsterer never blinked an eye but it was kind of creepy. And the job, which was part of a larger project, helped pay the bills ... Besides she was a lovely person.
It is a slippery slope indeed ...

Whether it be hooves, hides or horns...you obviously have a love and appreciation for the beauty of these items and a desire to care for them...very commendable! :)
